Public Enemy

They are the most important and genre-defining group of hardcore rap, are considered "The Greatest HipHop Act Of All Time" (laut.de): Public Enemy. In December, the formation, which for the first time united rock, metal, alternative and hip-hop fans with their multi-style sound, presented a cross-section of the most important songs from their studio albums live - with a large band! After more than five years of absence from the stage in Germany, Flavor Flav (trademark: Viking helmet), known to a wide audience through the reality show "Flavor Of Love" (MTV), is also part of the party at the first guest performances of the radical agitator troupe Mega clock). Each public enemy show lasts two to three hours and turns into a party thanks to various surprise guests. Tickets to these concerts cost 24 to 30 euros (plus fees). They are available at the well-known advance booking offices. Public Enemy, named after a James Cagney gangster film from 1931, were founded on Long Island, New York. The 1987 released debut album “Yo! Bum Rush The Show ”gave the starting shot for a headline-grabbing world career. “With their imaginative, unconventional rap mixes”, says the New Rock Lexicon, “they made the imagination of the black audience explode”. “Their audio collages, which are avant-garde and exciting” (Billboard), drew “terrifyingly accurate musical visions of urban chaos” and provided “a perfect interpretation of the hysteria and despair in the big city” (Time Out). On their current tour, the “musical miners” (Q) appear in the following line-up: Chuck D. is the eloquent thought leader, with - also as MC - Flavor Flav. DJ Lord is at the turntables. Not to forget: The S1W (The Security Of The First World) consisting of Brother Mike, James Bomb and Pop Diesel. With their mercenary look, this security crew shapes the appearance of the public enemy in the style of public protest events. The PE band itself includes guitarist Khari Wynn, bassist Charles Hardgroove and NYCity drummer Michael Faulkner. Together, "the Rolling Stones of HipHop" (Chuck D.) will present a cross-section of their albums, which, thanks to their political propaganda embedded in artistic sound tinkering, are among the most important publications of HipHop. In the program, of course, is her “Fight The Power”, according to this year's survey by the US music broadcaster VH1, “best hip-hop track of all time”. One critic wrote of the Public Enemy guest appearance at the Montreal Jazzfest: “Simply spectacular, the way this formation performed some of the most important songs of hip-hop live. Her talent and genius make almost every other act pale completely! "
