Heimatabend - Heimatlieder from Germany

"Homeland songs from Germany“Is an art project funded by the Capital Cultural Fund, which ended in June 2013 in front of a sold-out house in the Komische Oper Berlin and continued immediately due to the great interest. Sold out concerts in Germany followed.

This unusual concert evening with “Heimatliedern aus Deutschland” shows the current status of the German Heimatlied, and it is anything but flat and boring. The interpreters, who have their roots in the countries with which the FRG and the GDR had recruitment agreements in the 1950s and 1970s (the so-called guest or contract workers) are passionate about the Heimatlied. Immigrant Germans sing the songs, which have been part of German culture for more than 60 years. The choirs and bands sing Klapa (Dalmatian folk music), ethnic singing (music from Eastern Serbia), Vietnamese Quan Ho singing, Moroccan Gnawa, Portuguese Fado or Son from Cuba. The pool of artists is put together as required and sometimes also supplemented by suitable regional artists.
